The different dog sports
In this section you will find the description of the different dog sports that you can learn with Diablo Tricks
Rat Sport with
Rats! Canada
The mission of RATS! Canada is to develop and promote a sport demonstrating the complicity and teamwork between a dog, which must track and indicate the presence of vermin in a given environment, and the ability and efficiency of the participant to read his dog. All of this must be done with respect, well-being AND safety of the participating animals.
The rats are kept in metal cages or dog-proof PVC tubes. Under no circumstances will there be direct contact between dogs and rats. RATS! Canada wants to provide a safe environment for dogs, rats and humans present when practicing sports.
Additionally, we will do everything in our power to be an accessible and inclusive sport, whether for dogs or humans with reduced mobility or special needs, unusual breeds, or mixed breed dogs. Instinct will always be prioritized when developing or modifying regulations or the procedure to follow to offer friendly or sanctioned competitions.
However, it is important to understand that rat sports can also be taught to a dog, as in all canine sports such as agility or sports scent detection.

The sport of rally obedience is a new activity that combines some aspects of agility and traditional obedience. Handlers can encourage their dog during the course and can repeat commands and signals (like in agility), but the course itself consists of varied and interesting exercises compared to those seen in obedience.
The judge chooses, from a list, 25 to 28 exercises that the dog and its handler must perform and, once the performance begins, it is continuous, without further direction from the judge.

Canadian Good Neighbor
CKC
The Canadian Kennel Club (CCC) Canine Good Neighbor (CKN) program identifies and rewards responsible and caring dog owners and their canine partners. The objective of the Canine Good Neighbor program is to ensure that dogs, this faithful friend of man, become a full member of our communities.
“Good dog neighbors” can be trusted for their good manners at home, in public, and in the company of other dogs. The training required by the Canine Good Neighbor program is not only pleasant, rewarding and useful, but it also helps owners develop a better relationship with their animal.
The Canine Good Neighbor program has three objectives: Increase public awareness and appreciation of dogs as valuable members of society; Promote a responsible dog-owner relationship and contribute to public education; Certify that dogs behave reliably in everyday situations, both in public and at home and in the presence of other dogs. The program is aimed at all dogs, whether purebred or crossbreed. It was set up to combat the anti-dog sentiment often expressed towards dogs in general. It also aims to raise public awareness of the responsibilities of owners and the benefits of owning a dog.
The test itself is not a competition where a certain degree of accuracy is expected from both dog and handler. Rather, it evaluates the dog-handler relationship as well as the handler's ability to control his dog. The dog is evaluated on its ability to perform certain basic exercises and the good manners it demonstrates in everyday situations.
